If you've a love of fibres and you're looking to explore the possibilities offered by creative play, this retreat is for you.
Fuelled by its vibrant colours, unique look, and immediacy of process, felting has seen a recent resurgence in the fibre arts. An incredibly versatile medium, felting offers new and playful ways of working with fibres. This hands-on retreat will introduce you to, or strengthen, your felting skills.
Objectives: During this retreat, you will:
Come to understand the mechanics of felting
Develop confidence in choosing and using materials and processes
Master the basics of making a range of beautiful felted objects
Produce a delightful collection of finished objects
Techniques: We will cover how to make cords, balls, and points, how to use resists to make bowls, purses, and pockets, and how to make texture with objects (shibori felting)
Skill Level: This class is best suited to beginner or intermediate level felters. Emphasis will be on the technical skills needed to produce useful high quality objects of art.
