Last night, we had our Reclaimed Covers Workshop with five of the loveliest ladies you shall ever meet! They each made two books, both of which were very technical, and required significant sewing. The first type upcycled fabrics (leather, suede, or jean) into books bound with exposed longstitch sewing. The exposed stitching required finicky precision to get it to look good, but the results can be well worth the work. The second upcycled flat hard objects (records, board games, birch bark, etc) into covers that were bound to the signatures using coptic stitching. Challenging? Definitely! Luckily, our peeps rose to the challenge magnificently! Have a look through the photos of the workshop.
We were at a new venue (for us): Humblepie. It is a beautiful shop full of all things made new again. It was generally felt by us that the blender lamp was a winner. Susan's shop is definitely worth a browse if you're looking for something fabulous.
