Ah, fond memories of BeetleBarrow Book's bookbinding retreat in August at The Cedars.

It was a fantastic weekend of learning, making, and sharing.

Three passionate women returned for another chance to bind books, share stories, and provide support for the two new go-getters.  All five left the weekend with new bookbinding skills, hearts full of new friendships, and a plan to reunite for more making adventures!

We LEARNED a new stitch - the Hidden Belgian.

We PRACTICED gluing - the Western.

We MADE over 30 books!!!

We SHARED many laughs, a few tears, many stories, and our favourite part of the day.

Thank you all for bringing your creativity and energy to The Cedars, I hope you all loved it enough to return someday.  It will always remain a welcoming, creative space.

Yours in making,

Glorious Pamper Yourself Retreat

We had a wonderful group of women at our Pamper Yourself Retreat last weekend!  Full of energy and life, these women made the most out of their time - creating, swimming, eating, laughing, relaxing, and re-connecting.  Here are some of the photos!

Quilted Pillows - A Great Small Project

I just finished up two samples of quilted pillows that participants will be able to make at our upcoming quilting retreat!!  I love the boldness of colour on white.  But I wasn't even done one of the pillows when I unleashed a cup of coffee onto it!  *sigh*

Prepping for Pampering

8 ladies joined BeetleBarrow for the afternoon to test out recipes for the upcoming Pamper Yourself Retreat.  We made bath bombs, salt scrubs, oatmeal teas.  The house still smells wonderful!  There are definitely things we'll change for the retreat, but lots of great results.

Expanding our Horizons

We are excited to launch our line-up of retreats for 2016!  This year, we're expanding beyond the bookbinding and quilting retreats we've traditionally offered.  We've added workshops on fibre arts and a retreat dedicated to pampering ourselves!  We look forward to these new adventures with you!

Literacy Day in Grimsby

Yesterday BeetleBarrow got to spend an afternoon in the best place to spend an afternoon when it's cold outside...the Library! It was Family Literacy Day at the Grimsby Public Library and it was full of things to do and learn about, proving once more, what an outstanding resource a library can be to a community. Love a library.

We had all the fixing ready for kids to make a saddle-stitch notebook. They got to root around in our tickle-trunk of smaller pieces of decorative paper, trim it up with fancy scissors - thanks Creative Bug for lending them! - add some ribbon well placed glue and:
All ready for the awesomesauce of a kid's imagination.

...love a library.

Happy New Year!

We've always felt that the winter is the perfect time to hunker down and make. It's absolutely freezing outside and the best place will be together in the warmth of friends, surrounded by paper, thread and sharp pointy things. Right? Am I right?

If you visit our 2014 Winter Workshops page, you'll see our upcoming workshops to carry us through to the spring.

Tuesday evening workshops are starting regularly again, and we've got some exciting new additions, like origami jewellery! (Thought we just did books eh?) Better check it out!

Email to register and remember, you can register for 5 workshop for the price of 4!

Beamsville will also be the new location for three Tuesday evening workshops, in partnership with our friend Creative Bug on King Street, which, if you've never had the pleasure, is a cozy crafty studio in the heart of Beamsville.

Space is limited!
